About Me
A life lived in the rhythm of person-centred practice..
Hello, I’m Lesley — a BACP registered Person-Centred Psychotherapist & Counsellor, based in Oxfordshire.
My practice is grounded in the BACP Ethical Framework, which supports me in working with care, integrity, and respect for each person’s autonomy and wellbeing.
Like many of my clients, I’ve walked my own therapeutic path. Over the years, I’ve explored a range of approaches through personal development and training. The one that truly resonated with me was the person-centred approach. Being seen as the expert in my own life, and supported to move at my own pace, was profoundly transformative.
After gently working through my own challenges with a compassionate therapist — and drawing on my holistic background — it felt like a natural step to train as a person-centred psychotherapist.
Now, I offer that same safe, accepting space to others. A place where you can explore whatever feels difficult, without judgement, and move towards greater clarity and self-understanding in your own time.
“The degree to which I can create relationships, which facilitate the growth of others as separate persons, is a measure of the growth I have achieved in myself.”
- Carl Rogers
A Holistic Approach
I’ve been supporting people holistically for over 30 years — as a charitable helpline worker, massage therapist, and aromatherapist. These experiences have given me deep insight into how trauma, anxiety, and depression can show up in the body.
Drawing on my experience in holistic health, developed over many years, I sit with clients compassionately, noticing how their experiences affect them physically and emotionally. Through gentle conversation and shared exploration, we work together to release some of the pain held in the body.
Experience & Training
Before moving into private practice, I worked at The Hummingbird Centre, Oxfordshire, supporting individuals affected by cancer and bereavement. I’ve also completed specialist training with Cruse Bereavement Service, which deepened my understanding of grief and how profoundly it can impact everyday life. My practice is informed by ongoing professional development, reflecting my commitment to learning, growth, and ethical care.
